Back Pain Is Not a Given in Life

It's become a common way to bond with other people or a quick in-joke - "I know I'm getting older when I feel my back hurting before I roll out of bed in the morning!"

But chronic back pain shouldn't be brushed off as an accepted part of getting older. Strength training and mobility training are tried-and-tested ways of staving off those chronic aches and pains - and age is no excuse!

If you care about being able to do activities you enjoy without worrying about the accompanying pain, it's worth investing whatever time you have in your day in doing some mobility or strength exercises.

Selecting the exercises depends on why there is extra stress on your lower back (is it compensating for a lack of strength in nearby muscle groups? Is it from lack of activity throughout the day? Are you using a certain range of motion which your body isn't able to control properly?), which is where being assessed by a qualified coach or practitioner comes in. But even if you can't afford to do so, adding some activity into your day is better than nothing!
