Tess never was athletic, and it was feeling unfit and weak which actually started her foray into fitness. Tess gravitated towards strength training because she wanted to feel stronger, however she struggled in the beginning to see progress.

She eventually came to realize it was because she couldn’t find that mind-muscle connection, and this was because she in fact has Joint Hypermobility Syndrome (JHS). It was when she discovered FRC® mobility training that the lightbulb finally switched on. She began her journey towards understanding mobility training and sharing how that can transfer to other areas of life – which for Tess means strength training in the gym and hobbies such as dance.
Although it’s been (and still is!) a tough and nonlinear journey towards becoming stronger, it’s also helped her to become a better coach. Her knowledge of movement mechanics and finding body awareness has to be on point in order to keep her joints stable and stress-free.

Having experienced the frustration of not seeing progress, Tess is a firm believer that understanding leads to better progress and seeks to help her clients appreciate and reacquaint themselves with what their bodies are capable of doing, just like she did.
